Mike Yi Ren Response

Ren emphasized huge importance in repetition and iteration testing in game development. Without going through the same elements over and over you haI ve a boring game. It's especially important to have it tested with someone without your own biases. This I think is applied to almost any work created in the entertainment feel. Everyone's consumer of this industry has its own perspective and this why seeing it through their eyes, either through playtesting or film screenings or listening parties etc. is the most productive way to assess, critique, and revise your own work.

I think it was really insightful to see the bare prototype of his game Far Cry 5. We see the blocking, prototype, and the slow transition of 2 years of work until his final product. This really emphasizes a different element of the iteration process. It starts with a small stepping stone that is revisited over and over to increase the quality of your work. Finally, reaching the end result of your game. It's not a linear process and his presentation really shows us how we shouldn't strive for a linear progression either.
